FCA Club Sports

FCA’s mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. In order to reach our FCA vision in the urban context we need the local church and volunteers to reach our youth. We want to provide accessible sports experience where athletes will grow in their skill, but more importantly grow in their faith while they are loved and encouraged by trained coaches.

Luis Arredondo

FCA Urban Sports Director

As an area representative of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I am delighted to present our new pillar of ministry nationwide: club sports.

FCA is known to be the top sports ministry organization, and recently, we have taken a big step toward an even greater sphere of influence.

In today’s culture, coaches and athletes go beyond high school and college levels. There's an increasing number of youth playing club sports, but students in urban areas often get left behind. Today, there's a lack of feeder programs in these areas where students can learn some of the basics of a sport to develop a love and basic level of competency to participate at a high school or club level.
This is important for several reasons, as we know that students involved in a sport are two to three times more likely to have good school attendance and graduate.

Additionally, through FCA club sports, we can reach students at a younger age to love, encourage and point them to Jesus. Imagine what the city will look like if our youth at an early age choose to follow Jesus and play sports and be in an environment where they hear about God’s love from their coaches.

There are more than 30,000 students in Des Moines Public Schools alone. We want to reach at least 3,000 more students through clinics, camps, and teams in three years. We have been doing baseball and soccer for years and are praying to expand. This summer, we want to add track, basketball, volleyball, and tennis.
